Original concept from Brainwash Theory

segregationalized

/seg-ri-gay-shuh-nuhl-ahyzd/ · adjective

Coined and defined byDavid Payne Jr.

First published in Brainwash Theory

A lived-experience framework naming the psychological conditioning that can develop under prolonged segregation and isolation before institutionalization becomes a lasting pattern.

David Payne Jr. created the term to identify a missing middle stage he witnessed and experienced behind prison walls. It is presented as an author-originated theory and an invitation to research—not as an established clinical diagnosis.

Author's proposed definition

segregationalize

verb

/seg-ri-gay-shuh-nuhl-ahyz/

  1. To conform to the mental state induced by extended periods of isolation and solitary confinement.
  2. To be subjected to institutional isolation until social function deteriorates.
  3. The psychological urge to seek isolation from the general population due to a total loss of social adaptability.

A call for study

Lived experience can raise the question. Research can test it.

David invites researchers, mental-health professionals, corrections scholars, and lexicographers to examine whether this framework names a measurable stage of isolation-induced adaptation.

“Segregationalized” is identified here as a term coined by David Payne Jr. The original definition, explanatory prose, and published page are part of the author's work. The word itself is not claimed as protected by copyright.

From Every Closed Eye Ain't Shut

Trayvon Martin

A poem of grief, protest, and remembrance—shared in the author's own words and preserved alongside the original printed page.

Accessible transcript

Trayvon Martin

A past memory, killed with no dignity.
Robbed of your youth, murdered with no sympathy—iniquity.

Confused with a bully because of a hoodie.
In layman's terms: you were a victim trapped in the system.

It's my concern—listen to truth speak the facts, how I react
because you are Black. Hypochondriac.
Matter of fact, let's make it apparent: feel for the parents; my
condolences.

Stuck in the moment, trying to focus my emotions.
His gun was loaded, one in the chamber—how amazing.
Because he was Caucasian, acquitted of a slaying, so what is the
law saying?

His felony wasn't flagrant, and you told me that times are
changing.
I guess it was a statement: so Zimmerman can kill a man, violate
the Testaments...
A Black man kills a man, they give him death sentences.

My mission is deliverance; blood spilled from innocence.
The victim is the family who suffers from tragic circumstance.

I beg your pardon—heart hardened from the bullets and shots
sparking.
So often youth die, it is a price we cannot bargain.

So I am marking this day, teardrops cover his coffin.
I am watching, still marching for Trayvon Martin.

— David Payne Jr.

Author's emotional response

Written from grief, anger, and concern.

I wrote this poem from grief, anger, and concern after the killing of Trayvon Martin. It reflects my belief that race shaped how the case was understood and how justice was delivered. That is my personal interpretation and emotional response—not a legal finding. I wanted to honor a teenager whose death affected families and communities far beyond Sanford.

The visual language

Every symbol carries
a piece of the story.

About the author

A lived experience,
turned into a wake-up call.

David Payne Jr. writes from lived experience. Brainwash Theoryis his testimony about awakening from the influence of media and destructive role models—moving through crime, jail, and prison toward a deeper study of mindset, karma, attraction, accountability, and positive change.

“The mind is a powerful thing… when you finally take it back.”— David Payne Jr.

The symbol story

Personal history becomes mythology.

The eye and pyramids speak to awareness and ancient wisdom. The real back tattoo gives the cover its personal center. The dragon in the sky, Skye, and David connect that awakening to family and legacy.

Awareness

See the illusion

Notice the messages underneath the message—the images, role models, and repeated stories that quietly shape what people expect from themselves.
